Battersea Studios

On the fringe of London's newly developed Battersea district, this project refurbishes the central building of the Battersea Studios offices, Studio 1, working alongside M3_Made Precision to develop a strategic approach to its rejuvenation. The brief centred on how the building's public areas could increase tenancy and form a high-quality hub for all three Battersea Studio buildings.

Working closely with the client and marketing consultants, the concept developed around the building's history as television studios, reinterpreted in a contemporary way for today's content creators. The result is conceived as the "Home of the Creator," a hub that acts as an anchor to the three buildings and promotes Battersea Studios to new tenants, offering a one of a kind user experience and a clear point of difference within the wider Battersea area.

At its centre, the hub provides a mix of flexible informal and formal spaces geared towards content creation, alongside spaces that serve tenants and building users more generally. This flexibility also opens up new revenue opportunities, from client hosting and entertainment, including food and beverage offerings, to the short-term rental of content creation spaces and their ancillary areas, as well as food and beverage provision for tenants and building users day to day. In turn, tenants creating content within the building help raise Battersea Studios' own profile, their work linked intrinsically back to the building itself.

Technical design was fully developed in BIM, with presentations and material palettes prepared for tenant workshops throughout the process, and bespoke detailing developed in close collaboration with the fit-out contractor.
